Children stay and eat for free at Dalmahoy, making it the ideal destination for a family staycation. The resort has plenty to keep kids entertained with extensive grounds to explore, a nature trail, driving range, pitch and putt, and swimming pool.
Children’s afternoon tea, featuring colourful sandwiches, cakes and goodies, is served daily in the hotel’s Douglas Lounge, a relaxed environment for little ones and parents to enjoy a special treat.

Maid of the Forth
We’ve teamed up with Maid of the Forth to offer one lucky family the chance to cruise under the Forth Bridges and out to Inchcolm Island on board an acclaimed sightseeing trip.
Enjoy a 90-minute cruise from South Queensferry, with the journey passing underneath the spectacular Forth Rail Bridge, and a stop at Haystack Rock where you can watch seals basking in the sunshine. The sightseeing cruise docks briefly at Inchcolm Island for passengers who wish to explore the historic island, before continuing round to the south side of the island for spectacular views. The popular open-top deck is ideal for viewing the abundance of marine life such as grey seals and seabirds, and the occasional porpoises. Refreshments are available on board.

This year, the Pleasance Kidzone is celebrating its 10th birthday at the Edinburgh Festival. To mark the occasion, they have 20+ brilliant new kids shows, as well as all the usual arts and crafts on offer, plus a brand new Kidzone Cafe. The Showstoppers are back with their completely improvised musical kids show. Wallace & Gromit will take over the EICC, with an extra-special film screening with full orchestra, as well as offering model making workshops.
They’ve got Michael Morpurgo’s classic tale I Believe in Unicorns, the return of last year’s hit Beetlemania: Kafka for Kids and renowned theatre company Complicite are bringing their very first family show I’ll Take You to Mrs Cole! to the Fringe. Other family shows include Cirque Berserk, skateboarding and BMX stunts from Elements of Freestyle and family-favourite magician Tom Brace.
